Recently,  CSN Stores representative Sean Ryan asked me to review a product from one of their many sites.  I chose the Cuisinart Power Advantage 7-speed hand mixer, for sale at CSN for $49.85 with free shipping.  It came with an instruction booklet, 2 general-purpose beaters and a whip.  There was no storage case.
I own a 450-watt Kitchen Aid mixer that I use for most mixing jobs, but the 5-quart mixing bowl is quite large for smaller batches.  It’s nice to have a hand mixer available for smaller batters.

The Cuisinart 7-speed mixer has a powerful motor.  Though the advertising says it has a smooth start, in reality there is a little “jump” when the motor first starts.  If you have flour or powdered sugar that hasn’t been mixed in, it could splash out of the bowl, so it’s best to try to work it in slightly before you start the mixer.  In spite of that, I still love this mixer.  The beaters snap off easily and are a breeze to clean by hand or in the dishwasher.  It mixes batters smoothly and well and it’s comfortable to  hold.  The cord is adequately long.
Because of the “jumpy” start, I only rated this product 4 stars out of 5 on CSN’s website.  However, I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to find a good, reliable  hand mixer for about $50.00.

I used a friend's mixer and didn't expect it be "jumpy" like that. Needless to say, I wished I had my apron on :o) Once you know, you can be more careful. Still a nice mixer though!

I really appreciate this review. I bought a hand held kitchen aid mixer and I'm so disappointed with it. Not only is it underpowered, but the darn beaters clack like crazy (an alignment problem I'm guessing). I wish Sean would ask ME to review that mixer, lol.

I would love to have one of these hand mixers. Every time I mention it, my husband says, "but we have the big stand mixer." You've given me some good reasons to own both.

I have the KitchenAid stand mixer and love it. My hand mixer is an avocado green G.E. that I paid $9.98 for about twenty-five years ago. Do you think I might need a new one soon?

Thanks for the review.

Very cool. I could have used this last night because the cheap one I have here combined with the power (was a 220 house converted to 110) made mine go fast, a little faster and then super fast. It was getting dangerous.

I'm brand loyal to both Cuisinart and KitchenAid, but have been eyeing this blender for some time now. I appreciate your candid review; it was very helpful Judy. Can you tell me how to get involved with CSN reviewing? I'd love to know! Thanks, Roz

Roz, I don't know how you can be involved in product reviews with CSN. They contacted me, I didn't contact them.
