UPDATE ON JIM

Good news.  Dr. Spetzler has agreed to treat Jim.  His consultation is March 16.  Pre-op test on the 17th.  Surgery on the 18th.  Insurance is being worked out.

We did not go to CA.  We sent our younger son, David, who stayed at Jim's very tiny apt. We will be  going to AZ March 15.  It's been a grueling few weeks emotionally and physically and I still haven't really slept well since it all started.  Jim is stilll in pain and the doctor said he won't know till after the surgery whether it's the aneurysm causing the pain or something else.  He is unable to work, unable to drive but is functioning with the help of friends.

Thank you all for your support, especially your prayers.  Brain surgery is very high risk, and Jim's situation is serious.  There are probably only a few neurosurgeons in the world who would even attempt it, and Dr. Spetzler is one of those.  We are hopeful for good results and feel very fortunate that Jim was able to be scheduled so quickly.

Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
—Psalm 103:1-5

I continue to pray.

Cindy, We haven't got that far. I was in Phoenix about 20 years ago for a Women's Aglow Conference. It's a big city. We'll be looking for a place to stay for at least a week, preferably near Barrow, but haven't checked anything out yet. Our brains are still spinning from all this.

You and your family are in my prayers. As a stance of strength, this is my favorite Bible verse, perhaps it will help.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

When life ways heavy as it is on you now I try to remember what it will be like to fly with the eagles.

Biz, You're amazing. I don't know what we're facing yet in the way of costs, and don't feel right asking for help when I'm not sure if we need it. I appreciate your offer and will let you know.
Thank you everyone for everything you are doing. It is comforting to know you're there for me.

I somehow missed this update, but I'm so glad that this doctor is going to be your son's doctor. I've been praying for a miricle, as God is still in the miricle business! Still praying and may God give your family strength though this ordeal.
